OB/GYN Divisions
University of Alabama at Birmingham
offers a broad array of specialities areas,
and experienced in working with women of all ages. Patients have direct
access to our physicians, who have made great advances in such treatment areas as
general obstetrics, Pelic disorder, incontinence,
infertility, fetal abnormalities, high-risk pregnancy, critical care obstetrics, gynecologic cancer and urogynecology.
Women's Reproductive Health
This division provides excellent routine obstetric care during pregnancy, as well
as regular screenings, and evaluations throughout a woman's life.
Women's Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery
This division provides complete diagnostics evaluation and state-of-the-art
treatment for problems of pelvic floor disorders and incontinence.
Maternal and Fetal Medicine
This division provides the most advanced diagnostic services and treatments for
women with special pregnancy concerns including advanced age, multiple fetus, diabetes,
and complicated pregnancy histories.
Reproductive Endocrinology Infertility Services
This divisions provides comprehensive
evaluation of hormonal disturbances affecting reproduction and offers specialized
surgical and non surgical treatment options. The Center for Reproductive Endocrinology
Infertility offers fertility options for individuals and couples, using state-of-the-art
technologies in diagnosing and treating infertility including work-ups, drug therapy
and surgical therapy.
Gynecologic Oncology
This division provides comprehensive care for women with known
or suspected gynecological malignancies. Our gynecologic oncology specialists for the management of precancerous
and cancerous disorders of the female reproductive tract, including: cervical, endometrial,
ovarian, uterine, vaginal and vulvar cancers.
International
This division focuses on conduct of clinical trials and other critical biomedical
research relevant to Zambia. Its goal along with the Center for Infectious Disease
Research in Zambia (CIDRZ) is to provide support to the Zambian Government in its
HIV prevention and AIDS treatment programs throughout Zambia and training of medical
staff, counselors, community members, and public health officials. This division
goal is to also provide improvements to healthcare systems and infrastructure base
of various clinics in Zambia.
Education
This division is to ensure adequate
administrative support to all Ob/Gyn residents and medical students and to assist
the Residency Director and Clerkship Director in providing
a quality educational experience. The division provides
education opportunities,
while minimizing repetitive chores. To help meet our goals,
an Education Directorate
with dedicated offices and staff has been established within our department. We
believe that the hands-on experience our residents have in the clinical arena form
the strong foundation that makes our residents better teachers. In addition,
the faculty and residents join together to design a schedule of didactics and conferences
to constructively review patient management.
Administration
This division provides is ensure adequate administrative support to all Ob/Gyn Faculty
and staff and to assist the Chairman in providing a quality administrative support
in organizing department structure, develop public relationship, budgeting and tracking
on financial aspects, provide Technical support, provide computerized medical records
system.
