UAB Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
There are places in the world that see fertility counseling and treatment as little more than
science experiments. UAB’s Infertility Program, the most comprehensive program in Alabama, is about
far more than just the science. It’s about relationships. We are deeply connected with the people we
help. This warm, caring environment enables us to achieve excellent results and satisfied couples.
We realize the physical, emotional and financial stresses associated with infertility treatment.
Our physicians have years of experience diagnosing and treating the many conditions that cause
infertility. All of our couples receive highly individualized, personal care delivered in a
compassionate environment. Our entire staff makes sure that our patients never "feel like a number."
Consulting a reproductive endocrinologist early in your treatment is less expensive and results in
higher success rates. We conduct a thorough fertility workup of both partners to identify all factors
that could contribute to your infertility. Many times first level treatments, such as intrauterine
insemination, are successful and
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is necessary in only approximately
10-15% of cases.
As a University-affiliated infertility practice, UAB doctors keep abreast of the latest treatment advances and participate in many ground breaking research developments that are constantly occurring.
Additionally, we are experts in cancer and fertility preservation, and offer the most advanced treatments
for fertility preservation and restoration. We understand that a serious medical condition like cancer
may threaten an individual or couple's chance of having children in the future, and work to assist you
and your oncologist in deciding which options are best for you with regards to fertility.
