The Information Technologies group is responsible for the management and operation of mechanization resources in the Department. The organizational structure of the mechanization resources is a Windows NT 4.0 Domain which includes a PDC and two BDC's. These servers run several applications for the Department including Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 SP4, Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 SP4, Microsoft SMS Server, Microsoft IIS 4.0, and Network Associates GroupShield Protection software. In addition to the Windows NT Domain, the Department also has an experimental Active Domain configuration, which will eventually be tied into the ensuing campus-wide Active Directory structure. The network infrastructure for the Department is currently split into the Hospital Network and the Campus network. There is a difference in the methodologies between the two network structures in terms of the provision of network services.
